Rather than actual combat, the
YMCA Boxing Program will focus
one simple concept: proper
form and technique. Boxing
often incorporates all the skill-related components of
fitness; agility, balance, coordination, speed, power, and
reaction time. Therefore boxing workouts do not just
involve the shoulders and upper body but also connect
the feet, legs, hips and core to create fluid and powerful
movements. Each progressive week will focus on the
induction of a new technical skill that students will link
together, like the links of a chain, with previous skills
until the final week where they can utilize everything
they have learned. 8 weeks. 60 min.
In the Advanced Boxing Program members will be able
to further strengthen the skill sets learned in the
Beginner course. Members will utilize both offensive and
defensive skills to piece together complex combinations
of punches with extra emphasis placed on proper form
and technique. Workouts will gradually become more and
more complicated as the session continues. Both upper
body and cardiovascular endurance will be pushed to
their limits with this intense and fast-paced program.
It is recommended that members first complete the
beginner program or have prior boxing experience.

Increase your explosive
power, improve your
linear and lateral
quickness and decrease
your risk of injury with
the help of the Vertimax
technology. Vertimax is
a sophisticated and safe
jumping platform with
bands that attach to
various points on the
body for resistance
involved over the 8 week
progressive program sessions will benefit from a quicker
first step, faster top speed and improved side to side
movements. Space limited to 4 per class.
Bigger, faster, stronger in 8 weeks. As the outdoor
sport season is coming closer, fine tune your athletic
abilities with our weekly strength and conditioning
sessions. Athletes will learn sport specific weight
training lifts, drills and proper mechanics inside the
weight room to improve their athletic abilities on the
field and reduce the risk of injuries!
