2019 Dates: June 24 - August 23
Nine 1-Week Sessions
Monday-Friday: 9 am – 4 pm • Grades 1-6
Camper Extended Care is Available.
Camp TORYMCA is a planned fun filled summer for children in grades 1-6 held at the Torrington Y. The camper’s day consists of core camp activities, camper-chosen electives, daily outdoor play, and weekly off-site field trips planned to help each child build confidence and try new things.
CORE CAMP ACTIVITIES
Arts & Crafts: Campers will be able to find their inner artist and let imaginations flow. We will learn new crafts and explore many different art forms.
Swimming: Each day campers will take a trip to our heated indoor pool with a swim instructor and lifeguards present in addition to our camp staff. We will also take trips to nearby Elks Pond this summer where we can swim in its picturesque pond and relax on its private beach.
Group Games and Physical Fitness: From court to field games, campers will participate and interact each day in organized group activities to keep them moving and help build the skills needed to work as a team.
Camper Readers: 30 minutes per class consisting of shared and independent reading.
Camper Chosen Electives: Sports, art, dance, and drama are a few of the activities to choose from.
Healthy Eating: Through a partnership with Education Connection, we are once again pleased to offer lunch to campers free of charge. Lunch each day will consist of a sandwich, fruit or vegetable side, a healthy snack, and milk or juice to drink.
