Swim Lessons - Parent/Child (Ages 6 mos. to 3 yrs.)
Please review the criteria below to determine which stage is appropriate for your child:
Q: Can the student respond to verbal cues and jump on land? A: Not yet > Stage A / Water Discovery
Q: Is the student Comfortable working with an instructor without a parent in the water? A: Not Yet > Stage B / Water Exploration
Please click “Register” for the day and time in the month you want to start classes. This program is drafted monthly, until you cancel. To cancel, please submit a completed Program Cancelation Form at least 7 days prior to the 1st of the month. If you do not follow this procedure, the Y will not be held responsible for money drafted – no refunds will be given.
All youth swim participants will be outfitted with WAVE headsets as a lifesaving measure.

Stage A - Water Discovery (6-18 mos.)
This class is for the infant or toddler and parents looking to learn techniques to help ensure safety around water. Parents accompany children in stage A, which introduces infants and toddlers to the aquatic environment through exploration and encourages them to enjoy themselves while learning about the water. Parents and children will learn techniques that can help them advance in swim programs with comfort. This class has a focus on self-rescue techniques, introducing back floating and Swim-Float-Swim, to help parents become confident their kids will be safer around the water. No prior swimming knowledge required.
Stage A - Water Discovery (6-18 mos.)
This class is for the infant or toddler and parents looking to learn techniques to help ensure safety around water. Parents accompany children in stage A, which introduces infants and toddlers to the aquatic environment through exploration and encourages them to enjoy themselves while learning about the water. Parents and children will learn techniques that can help them advance in swim programs with comfort. This class is for the infant who has some level of comfort in the water, can respond to verbal cues, and can jump on land. In stage B, parents work with their children to explore body positions, floating, blowing bubbles, and fundamental safety and aquatic skills. There is a continued focus on self-rescue techniques, like back floating and Swim-Float-Swim, while continuing to develop fundamental swim skills.
Stage B - Water Exploration (18 mos. - 3 yrs.)
This class is for the infant who has some level of comfort in the water, can respond to verbal cues, and can jump on land. In stage B, parents work with their children to explore body positions, floating, blowing bubbles, and fundamental safety and aquatic skills. There is a continued focus on self-rescue techniques, like back floating and Swim-Float-Swim, while continuing to develop fundamental swim skills.
